Answer: The Ontario Paralegal Association (OPA) has established the Regulatory Advocacy & Support Initiative to support licensed paralegals facing regulatory matters with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).  This initiative provides crucial guidance, educational resources, and advocacy to ensure paralegals have the tools and support needed to navigate complex regulatory processes effectively.  With the OPA at their side, paralegals can focus on their practice while having a reliable resource for addressing regulatory challenges.

Regulatory Advocacy & Support Initiative

The Ontario Paralegal Association (OPA) has established the Regulatory Advocacy & Support Initiative to provide structured support to licensed paralegals who are dealing with regulatory matters involving the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).  Regulatory engagement can be procedurally complex, resource-intensive, and professionally stressful.

This initiative is designed to ensure that paralegals are not left to navigate those processes without informed organizational support.

Purpose of the Initiative

The Regulatory Advocacy & Support Initiative is intended to reinforce procedural fairness and accountability within Ontario’s regulatory environment for paralegals.  The initiative focuses on the following:

• Promoting fairness, transparency, and procedural integrity in regulatory matters.
• Providing education, guidance, and advocacy for paralegals interacting with the LSO.
• Supporting the professional rights and responsibilities of licensed paralegals.
• Strengthening the collective voice of paralegals within Ontario’s regulatory framework.

Initiative Supports and Resources

Through this initiative, the OPA may provide the following forms of assistance:

• Guidance and support for paralegals responding to LSO inquiries, complaints, or investigations.
• Educational resources addressing regulatory obligations, procedural expectations, and compliance best practices.
• Advocacy initiatives that identify systemic or policy-level concerns affecting the paralegal profession.
